I've never used leather gear, so the silicone tip was the whole reason I gave this a shot and I'm glad I did. The flexible shaft lets me control how light or sharp the tap lands, which is perfect since I'm still figuring out what I like.
The silicone tip has a nice sting without leaving welts, which is exactly what I wanted as a total beginner. I'm vegetarian so finding a crop without leather was a big deal for me.
The flexible shaft makes it really forgiving for a beginner like me, and the silicone tip lands with a satisfying thud without being scary. I also appreciate that it's entirely leather-free and easy to clean.
